Learning Information Network Kaniva

LINK is your local Neighbourhood House. We provide short courses in employment skills, health and wellbeing, art, craft and general interest classes. Our courses vary from term to term and reflect the needs and interests of the community.

This is a great community asset and we welcome community input, so if you would like to see a particular course, class or activity run through the Centre, please let us know. Simply contact Kathryn at LINK to register your interest

LINK is particularly interested in hearing from people in our community that have Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment and would like to teach Employment and Skill based Courses next term. 

Please contact Kathryn now to discuss opportunities for 2009.

Currently we are trying to organise these classes:
Fairy class for 3 1/2 ~ 5 year olds
Dance Class for 5-7 year olds
Creative Latin Dance
Art workshops
Survival Cooking classes for older kids
Kids Singing classes
Drama classes

Facilities Available

LINK has meeting/workshop space available for that occasional meeting or consultation (subject to availability). Rates for half-day, day or evening are very reasonable.

Internet use for $2 for 30 minutes
Photographic quality printer ~ $8 for A4 size print
Blank and white laser printing ~ 20c per page

The LINK Centre is an access point for the ATO in Kaniva. You are able to access the Country Help system and even do your tax return online. We also have access brochures and general information relating to a whole range of situations, such as capital gains, employment issues, superannuation and many more.

Wimmera Uniting Care ~ No Interest Loans Scheme
This is available to people with limited incomes as a means of assistance to overcome short-term financial difficulty. The scheme will provide finance up to $1000 to purchase a much-needed household item, piece of medical equipment or educational item.  LINK is available as a first point-of-contact for people interested in finding out more about the scheme.

The Purple Starfish cooperative shop is open to all community members. Please call Helen Hobbs on 5392 2657 if you have goods to sell; vegies, plants, cooking, art, craft, etc. All you need to do is volunteer one day per month in the shop. Volunteer helpers are also very welcome. A small commission is charged on goods sold to assist with funding Saturday morning kids art classes.
