Kaniva Visitor Information Centre
Situated beneath the town's big windmill, visitors can relax in the public gardens or discover the many things the region has to offer. Upstairs houses local artworks as well as the Kaniva Footwear Collection which highlights many shoes worn by famous Australians including Slim Dusty, Victorian Premier John Brumby, TV Celebrity Don Burke and footballers Glen Hawker and Roger Merrett. A 24hr information kiosk is also available.
The centre is a good starting point for exploring the little desert and has an extensive range of information ideal for both 2 and 4WDs. It also has an excellent range of general highway information and public internet access.
Visitors can select from a small range of local produce whilst also enjoying an espresso coffee in the cafe which is combined with the information centre itself. Caravan parking, baby change facilities and public toilets are situated next to the windmill.
Sheep Art, Historical plaques and paintings of flora & birdlife in the area can be found in and around the businesses district, making for a pleasant short walk from the information centre.
Kaniva has excellent roads off the highway that are ideal for bike riding. Visitors planning a trip to Kaniva may also like to consider bringing their golf clubs or tennis rackets for a hit of the of golf or tennis. The skate park & swimming pool are also popular spots for locals and visitors alike.
